What you need to know about In-Home infusions

Eligibility

Not all patients are eligible for in-home infusion therapy. Eligibility is generally determined by the healthcare provider, who will consider factors such as the patient's medical condition, the type of medication or fluids needed, and the patient's ability to care for themselves at home.

Equipment & Supplies

Patients who receive in-home infusion therapy need to have access to the necessary equipment and supplies. This may include an infusion pump, catheters, tubing, and other specialized equipment.

Training

At Wellscript, our patient care team has experience training patients and caregivers on how to administer infusion therapy at home, including how to properly set up the equipment, how to care for the injection site, and how to monitor for any potential complications.

Monitoring

Patients who receive in-home infusion therapy will need to be monitored regularly to ensure therapy is having the intended effect. This may include regular check-ins with a Wellscript nurse or other healthcare professional, as well as self-monitoring of vital signs and other indicators.

Emergency preparedness

Patients who receive in-home infusion therapy must know what to do in case of an adverse reaction or complications from an infusion. Wellscript nurses provide patients with detailed instructions on how to respond to emergencies, with direct assistance available 24/7.
